The Dangers of Weighing Yourself Each and Everyday

I have been working in the fitness industry for a long time and I have found that there are literally hundreds of people who weigh themselves every single morning.

Although this is a great habit to get into, there are 2 negative aspects associated with weighing yourself each morning and if you are aware of these you will be able to maintain your weight a lot easier.

The first problem many people have is yo-yo dieting. Many people wake up and weigh themselves first thing in the morning, if they are unusually light they tend to choose unhealthy foods all day as a reward for being light that morning. Then a few days later these people weigh themselves again and may be slightly heavy resulting in them either skipping a few meals or hopefully choosing healthy food options. If this continues to happen on a weekly basis then the person's weight will yo-yo up and down. This is simply due to the fact that the person's diet is all over the place and they are not eating a balanced diet.

Therefore, it is important to include healthy food options on an everyday basis opposed to a meal to meal basis.

The other problem with weighing yourself in the morning is the simple fact that you are dehydrated. The reading you are getting in the morning is a dehydrated reading because you probably have not had anything to drink all night. It is important to take this into consideration if you are recording your weight in a diary etc.
I believe the best thing to do is to get your skin fold checked by a qualified professional once every month. A skin fold reading is done using a set of calipers. The fitness professional will pinch a layer of fat at seven sites around the body. They then record the numbers and tell you how much body fat you have. Although results vary depending on who does your test over time you will be able to see an average result.

If you do not have access to someone who knows how to measure your skin folds then simply look at how your clothes fit. If you have gone down a few belt sizes or your work shirts are a bit looser than they usually are then you know you have lost (or put on) some weight.

In the end, a healthy lifestyle, good eating habits and consistent physical activity will help keep you fit and healthy forgiving life your best shot.

SUGAR - The Sweet Toxin

Cigarettes, alcohol & SUGAR, the holy trinity of modern ill health. Yes that's right "sugar" has earned its place in such evil, exalted company & as the body of evidence grows with every passing year sugar just may be the most dangerous of them all.

Consuming sugar in excess is a prime cause of obesity, heart disease, cancer & type two diabetes. In western countries the average person ingests 151 grams of pure sugar everyday through the food & beverages they consume, that is over 15% of a kg of sweet toxins every single day which translates to over 50kgs of disease inducing toxins per year. As the anti smoking TV ads say... "It's enough to make you sick, VERY SICK!"

Up to 70% of people in western countries are classified as overweight or worse still obese. There is the subcutaneous fat that resides on your "tummy" plus the visceral fat also known as "organ" fat that gathers around your internal organs. Both types are dangerous & encourage a variety of life threatening ailments but the latter is even more sinister because it has been proven that visceral fat consistently releases high levels of inflammatory molecules in to the body.

Sugar in all its disguises sabotages the healthy operation of the human body by triggering an unhealthy level of insulin production. Heightened blood sugar levels increases LDL particles (low density lipoproteins) in the bloodstream which are colloquially known as "bad cholesterol" particles & are responsible for plaque blockages in the arteries which encourages heart disease.

Sugar also has addictive qualities the equal of any illicit drug, stimulating the "reward" centres of the brain which builds an inherent need for sugar which over time sees the body require more & more of the "sweet drug" to attain the same satisfaction levels. The net result is the quality of your diet & health goes into freefall.
Even more disturbing is the latest research that shows that tumours have insulin receptors & if there are tumours present in the body any insulin "spikes" (caused by excess sugar) will feed their growth & promote the onset of cancer.

Sugar is infecting the world like a plague & is a major component in nearly all processed foods & I'm not just referring to cookies, pastries, chocolates & cakes (up to 71% sugar), soft drinks (up to 94% sugar) & mainstream cereals (up to 56% sugar). It is also ever present in all sauces & dressings (up to 50% sugar), jam, marmalade & other spreads (up to 60% sugar) & lollies / dried fruit (up to 80% sugar). Coupled with this sugar is also a prominent ingredient in white flour which is used to make pasta & bread amongst numerous other daily consumables. Don't even start me on fruit juices; yes they are loaded with sugar too.

Shall we talk about "high fructose corn syrup" (HFCS) the high profile sugar substitute that is now a staple ingredient in so many grocery lines. Let's just say this additive has all the same "dire" qualities of sugar but with one added downside. We know that the human body processes HFCS differently than sugar & what we don't know can certainly hurt us.

"This is the bitter truth for those with a sweet tooth."

A Natural Alternative to Weightloss Exercises   by John Lismo

Liposuction, slimming pills, slimming teas, fat-burning soapsthese are just some of the new ways to get slimmer these days. These slimming trends are taking people by storm by making them lose weight without exerting much effort. For instance, with liposuction, you can lose unsightly fat in your belly in just an hour or less. With slimming pills, you simply have to take some pills to reduce your body weight. Slimming teas accelerate your body's metabolism to burn fat easily despite eating much while fat-burning soaps heat up the fat in your body. These methods offer fast results, and require less effort but while they have been proven effective to make you slimmer, they may have side effects that can harm your body or affect your mood, making things more complicated than just having a big appetite. Considering side effects and other factors, there is no doubt that natural methods to eliminate excess fat such as weightloss exercises are still the best ways to be in shape and remain healthy.

Doing weightloss exercises is the most popular way to burn fat. Gym instructors and body-building coaches usually recommended it hence promoting the tagline, "No pain no gain" among those who want to be slimmer. The most common weightloss exercises include running, walking, stretching, stomach crunch, and leg exercises. Unlike unnatural methods that cost high, these exercises are very cost-effective. They do not require you to buy products or pay for professional services. What's more, they can usually be done at home. All you need is some discipline and time to do the routines. Sounds easy, right? But not everyone has the time to do exercises. Most even don't have time to watch their favorite ballgame, fetch kids from school or dine with the family.

For those who find weightloss exercises too heavy to fit into their daily schedule, there is Proactol to help reduce body fat. This product is intended to help you become slimmer by eliminating excess body fat. It is as natural as weightloss exercises as it is made from cactus. The cactus plant is well-known for its many benefits. It is widely used for slimming, skin exfoliation, and promoting hair growth and volume. However, it tastes really awful even when mixed with flavorings. It even smells terrible, thus taking it raw is disgusting. Now, with Proactol, you can get the same benefits from cactus yet do away with the awful taste and smell. Proactol binds the excess fat in your body, and digests it naturally to help control your cholesterol level and your overall weight. To find out more about Proactol, see http://www.proactol.com/.
Doing weightloss exercises and taking Proactol are two natural ways to burn excess fat. For those who have time and discipline, weightloss exercises may be the better choice but for those who find it difficult to set aside some time to go to the gym and exercise, taking Proactol is highly recommended. Still, for those who want fast and guaranteed results, doing both (doing weightloss exercises and taking Proactol) is most ideal.

Top 3 Choices For Guaranteed Fast Weightloss   by Neelima Reddy

Do you want to achieve that attractive figure by getting rid of your bulges now? Do you want to do whatever it takes to lose weight the soonest possible time? Do you lack the time to workout at the gym or exercise regularly? If yes, then you are just one of the millions who want to have a healthier and sexier body through fast weightloss.

As its name connotes, fast weightloss is the speediest way to achieve your desired weight and shape. People who want to lose weight naturally would often turn to proper dieting, regular exercise, and sufficient rest to attain their goal. However, if you happened to be impatient about losing weight and want to see the results right away, then you should turn to these fast weightloss plans:

1. Surgery
Perhaps the fastest among the fast weightloss techniques is having a surgical operation that can make you lose weight the soonest possible time. Bariatric surgery, liposuction, and many other fast weightloss surgeries are the first to be considered by obese individuals. These surgeries had been around for years and there are a number of experts who can perform the operation on you.

2. Crash diet
Another fast weightloss technique is to go on a crash diet. These crash diets can make you lose pounds off your present weight in a matter of days only. Popular crash diets include the Hollywood diet, cabbage soup recipe diet, the 1200-calorie diet, and 48-hour diet. They require you to eat a certain amount of food, usually based on the number of calories and nutrients they contain.

3. Fast weightloss pills
As more people have the need to lose weight, health companies grab the chance by producing pills and all sorts of medications that promise to help one lose weight. There are diet pills in the market and in some countries, you may even find soaps, oils, and lotions that have fat-burning properties. Further, there are teas and supplements designed for weight loss available in pharmacies.

There's nothing wrong with the desire of losing weight. Obesity is in fact one of the leading causes of ailments like hypertension, stroke, heart attack, diabetes, and high blood pressure. However, with their tremendous effects to the body, fast weightloss plans also have negative effects.

Disadvantages of fast weight loss
* Surgery is very expensive. Although it guarantees results immediately after operation, still you have to prepare a handsome amount of money to get one done. In the same way, diet pills are also costly.
* Taking pills, going on a crash diet, and surgery have side effects. They can make you weak, prone to sickness due to poor immune system, and may trigger allergies and other ailments as well.
* They are not 100% effective. Sure you may lose pounds in a short time but after which, you may gain weight again even more than what you've lost if you don't know how to control your appetite and exercise regularly.
* They are not safe. Lack of research and bad testimonials are enough to make you have second thoughts about these fast weightloss techniques.

Low Carb diets and Exercise Myths

by: mroussell

I believe (and the research supports this) that in order to efficiently lose weight that you need to choose low carb foods and follow some sort of carbohydrate restricted diet. The evidence supporting this statement is large and convincing. However, I still read and hear things like: "Low carb diets are the wrong approach to effective weight loss" and "Exercise and low carb diets dont mix"

In fact this could not be any further from the truth. Lower carbohydrate diets are essential for controlling insulin a key factor in health and weight loss but you probably already know that.

In regards to exercise and low carbohydrate diets this is where many people can get confused. Exercising on a low carb diet can be tough if your body is not conditioned to use fat as its primary fuel source.

Now onto low carb diets and exercise. Two studies published in the early 80s looked at how very low carbohdyrate diets (as low as 3% of calories) effected the performance of endurance athletes. You would probably agree with me in saying that the endurance community is OBSESSED with carbohydrates. So this should be interesting.

In one study (The Vermont Study) the subjects were put on a low carb diet for 6 weeks and in the second study (The MIT Study) the subjects were put on a low carb diet for 4 weeks. In both studies during the first week the subject complained of being lethargic but when the studies were over the participants did not have any decrease in peak aerobic performance. In the MIT Study is was also determined that essentially all the calories that the athletes were burning during their endurance workouts were from fat.

One of the key points here is that it takes some time for your body to adapt to functioning on low carbs. During that time you may feel lethargic but it goes away. The other point to consider is that the two studies above show that the claim exercise and low carb diets dont mix is just incorrect.

In the Vermont study the subject actually experienced an increase in performance (basically the low carb diets made them better at exercising) but this may have been due to the weight loss that the subject had experienced.

The studies that I mentioned today are pretty old and provide valuable information for people.I have to wonder why their findings are not common knowledge? Any ideas?

Do you have trouble exercising on a low carb diet? Do you exercise better when your carbs are low?
